Neglected World

Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the exploration of man-made structures, usually neglected, abandoned, and in various states of decay.

These sites vary greatly from old industrial complexes such as mills, collieries, factories etc where the countries industrial heritage is being lost forever, to abandoned  manor houses, hospital morgues and everything inbetween.

Other sites are components of the man-made environment not usually seen by the general public, these are often hidden away and mostly underground, these include tunnels, sewers, drains, culverts, bunkers, air raid shelters etc

Other popular places are high up, building rooftops, bridges, chimneys etc provide views across the landscape few people ever get to see.

Photography and historical interest/documentation are heavily featured in this activity and, although it may sometimes involve trespass onto private property, this is not always the case and is of innocent intention.

Personally i have a keen interest on seeing what is left behind in these abandoned places, documenting the buildings along with the remnants and memories of a buildings former life before it is lost and forgotten.

The very nature of this activity presents various risks, including both physical danger, hassle from on-site security and the possibility of police involvement.

The majority of explorers however are moraly sound, only entering a place that is already accessible, and leaving everything exactly as it was found.
